Does the Moon Help Trees Grow?
Trees are such remarkable organic marvels one has to be in awe. They turn CO2 into Oxygen and water moves all the way up inside their tree trunks, but how. Does the full moon help trees grow and move the water up their trunks? Well as bizarre as this sounds, it did become part of a discussion recently in an online think tank. One guest member stated;
“I know the moon can move oceans (tide), If it can do that surely it can pull a column of water up a plant stem?”
Interesting, well as I understand it the water flows up due to suction and ionic bonding. Gravity is a weak force and the ionic bonding can easily over come this, but what I find fascinating is that in larger trees the center where the water climbs can be 6 inches wide.
If the bottom of the roots sucks water in then the water keeps feeding pushing the water up and the tree could grow as tall as the roots can pull against the dynamic pressure of the weight of the water and gravity going the other way? There are changes with the water inside the tree during full-moons as well as in wells, swimming pools, even the water in your body, remember it is a high percentage of water right? I guess as I see it everything affects everything else of course?
Can the Moon, which changes the tides and affects all bodies of water on Earth affect the water in our own bodies, inside trees and plants too? It very well could if you consider it? But is all this an old Indian Legend or is there more too it? Consider this in 2006.
