A Difference Between Politician and Scientist

by: Guest     Total views: 15     Word Count: 724

In today’s perplexed world, the role of politician and that of scientist does carry absolutely incompatible value, and once the two occupations overlap one another, social stability would be a problem. The utopian target of a politician is “earthly power”, scientist’s natural and artificial goad, on the other hand, is to seek for the genuine truth; the truth that is the product of rationalism and human-favored approach.

So what are the author’s rational grounds for the above arguments?

I. Politician’s Foremost Target

Why does one penetrate his/her way toward political affairs of the state? The question is extremely easy to coin, but the answer is of great difficulty to make, since there is no any formula, as that of mathematics, to lead out answer within the frontier. Moreover, there is no “wrong or crazy answer” in the field of humanity, but the answer may be classified as “crazy or irrational or inhuman.”

In short, the only goad of a politician is “the power.” Power is the indispensable foundation for all worlds’ politicians, not matter what the origin, educational level, family status, complexion, gender or other social status of the politician is, his or her involvement into state’s or world’s political affairs is the power.

Do not believe any politician during the campaign claimed that he/she does not seek for power, but only the prosperity of the people, and if there is any such the kind of leader, he/she will never succeed. With regard to politics’ truly original sense, only the meticulously communist person that does not target power. Such the said political animal is not born in this perplexed world yet.

Whether or not for patriotic or treacherous heart, power is the same as the capital for the politician to start a political investment. Without the capital (power), he or she will never start up headquarter, attract supporters, make his/her business confident for the clients and most of all her/she will never reach the already-set utopia. “Power is the politician’s very first step toward the second step.”

II. Scientist’s Foremost Target

Standing in a contrast philosophy, scientist’s ideal aspiration is to “search for the truth and share to the public.” Moreover, he or she does not care whether that truth would destabilize the whole society or the world, no matter that truth would fetch in positive or negative impact to his or her life, society or even the world.

Socrates was a scientist during his time, since what he expressed are what he thought as the truth and worth be aware of by the public. The matter of self-security and impact to ancient Greek were not barriers to his opinion and expression.

Again and again, it is like searching a little pin under an ocean to such a true scientist, whose vocation is search for ultimate truth either physically or spiritually.

III. The Evils of Its Compatibility

The too complete world has made the political and scientific vocation overlap one another; the scientist who has ties to any political party and so his truth is not genuine, but politically oriented truth, and the politician who lies that power is not his/her principle, but people’s prosperity only is his/her thirst.

When the two vocations overlap one another, as in the cases of low developed countries, mostly in Africa and South-East Asia, students do stand in the top rank to get negative impacts. Imagine how the students can get true knowledge from the published books, in-class lectures or other discussion forum, where their lecturers (scientists) is politically oriented or interfered. Most or all of his ideas will favor any political party or it may bee too hard for him/her to cuddle neutrality; the discipline of scientist.

Conclusion

In the nutshell, both occupations do have distinguished essence which can not be intertwined with one another. Spiritual tuition for expert into both field from the very early age, would be the first and central suggestion of the author. All of us must take the second step.
