How does someone with a good sound innovation for specialty environmental equipment bring their device and system to market and sell it. Well lets take a look at just such an innovation and work thru the process of developing the beginning stages of a strategic marketing plan for a carwash waste water recycle equipment to insure robust sales.

This concept brought in by brilliant marketing student Paula Chavis; “My idea is to design a device to catch all of the runoff water that is used from beginning to end and recycle it through the reverse osmosis unit and reuse it over and over through out the car wash. “I would also market a mobile model for independent operators that included a water retrieval mat that they would drive their customer’s cars onto. The water would be recycled for multiple uses instead of needing to refill their water tank on their truck after a couple of jobs.”

Indeed we know there is a need in the market for such equipment to fill this niche. Further I think with a proper sales program and some smart “real world” marketing, which is more industry based than textbook based we could win the market, even if someone already has such a system for recycling wash water for reuse in the actual car wash process, you see? Never be afraid of competition, rise to the occasion and win! By concentrating on the niche and considering there are some 39,000 carwashes in the US to sell to, there are plenty of customers.

Having videos, CD Roms and a supportive website also makes sense, perhaps an endorsement and some proper PR might also help you with the Regional and International Car Wash Associations. For your mobile retrieval systems, mats, vacu-boom type systems it would make sense as well. And all these exist already, but cleaning of the water and watering the landscape should not be all that hard to do. I recommend marketing such as system online and in the trade journals for auto detailing, truck washing and mobile car wash companies too.

When developing a strategic marketing plan for industrial environmental equipment or any specialty equipment niche it is very important to concentrate first on obvious unfulfilled niches and a fast comprehensive rollout in a regional area as a test market and then evaluate your sales process and then go for it. Consider all this in 2006.
