Bananas Pointing Skyward; Hawaiian Banana Market Doing Well
Hawaiian Banana growing better than expected and banana farmers produced 30 percent more bananas in 2005 then in 2004 and that is almost 4.5 million pounds more. Why are bananas growing so well in Hawaii? Great weather is one reason. The sales of bananas were up by 8 million in revenues and this year is looking good too?
Well guess who benefits in all this? Well it is you as a consumer meaning more plentiful bananas in the United States and that means healthier and happier people. Bananas are rich in nutrition and provide the body with many of the things we need to stay fit and healthy. This is a very good thing and even better is that they had a 30% yet the United States Department of Agriculture tells us that they grew them on less acres. Better weather provided better yields. Hawaii is a huge producer of bananas for the United States and these are some of the best bananas in the World too.
Perhaps you may have noticed at some of your favorite eating establishments more banana dishes on the menu. Even Starbucks has Banana Crème Frappachinos and Banana Chocolate Chip Crème Cake and Banana Nut Muffins. You see how the price of bananas changes the world around us? After all doesn’t it seem everyone has just been going bananas lately? Consider all this in 2006.
