Teens Stand on Faith: My Last Column
I want let people know that not all kids and young people are doing wrong. There are young people who are trying to help make this world better.
One of the goals I have in doing these columns is to encourage people to get MAD. MAD means to make a difference. I also want let people know that not all kids and young people are doing wrong. There are young people who are trying to help make this world better. Here is an example.
The top two graduates of Brookville High School in VA. urged their classmates to remember the lessons they learned in their youth and make a commitment to serve as they leave high school.
Speaking to the high school’s other 206 graduates and thousands of family, friends and school officials, Brooksie Elizabeth Blanks said, “Don’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe in but learn the art of forgiving and forgetting.”
Sarah Elizabeth Wright asked that students “love unconditionally, live compassionately and leave with a smile.” Wright asked her fellow graduates to make it their lives’ purposes to serve others.
I know someone else who gave everything (for you). His name is Jesus Christ,” she said, which was met with cheers and applause.
She urged students to give their lives to the Lord.
“I guarantee He is going to give you peace,” she said. “I know you won’t regret (giving your life to Jesus). I know I haven’t.”
Students shook hands with and hugged teachers standing in front of the graduation stage as they walked single-file to their seats.
I do not know about you but hearing about what these teens did gives me hope that America can be changed by God.
On another subject I have loved doing these columns but this might be my last one for awhile because in about a week I am off to do a short term mission.
I am going be helping work with underprivileged kids in a daily vacation Bible school.
If you have any thoughts or want know more about what I will be doing please email me.
