Modern Web Design Techniques
Modern Web Design Techniques
The more time progresses on the Internet, the more people are realizing what truly works when it comes to effective website design. What this means for you if you are getting ready to have your website designed, is that there is no need to reinvent the wheel because there is just so much information available for you use.
Calm Down and Think Pragmatically
Launching your business on the Internet is an exciting time and rightfully so. It could be a new financial beginning for you. However; it is important to not get lost in all the excitement lest you make some less than pragmatic decisions regarding the overall design of your website.
Falling Back On the Marketing Basics
In some ways nothing has really changed in marketing when it comes to the basics. For instance, sex still sells. This doesn't necessarily mean that you should turn your site into a porn site by any means. What it does mean however, is that if you could subtly connect your service or product to human sexuality in any way, it's a definite plus.
Choose Your Photos Carefully
What this means is that if you are going to have photographs of people in your site that are using your product or service, make sure that they are attractive to look at. Also make sure that you have an equal grouping of both attractive men and women together interacting in a pleasant social setting.
Come Up With a Catchy Positive Slogan
Another old advertising trick is to use an effective slogan to get the message of your product or service across. One fine example that you may be familiar with is “better living through modern chemistry”. You see how the slogan connects “better living” with chemistry and it's very catchy at the same time?
Take the Time to Study Colors and Shading
Color and shading are very important. Take the time to test all the colors together to see which ones compliment each other best. Also, be careful with your script color if you are using a color other then black. Make sure that it can be easily read against the background color it is set against.
Don't Expect Visitors To Be Avid Readers
You will also want to be very careful not to overload a site or page with too much information. If you watch a TV commercial for instance, you will see that it gives you the basics and may mention some place that you can find out more about a product. Do the same! Cover the basics if there is a lot of information involved and create a second website that they can click to if they are interested in precise details.
One Last Thought On Sales At Your Site
You see, far too many web masters are into the concept of making a sale as soon as someone visits. Sure it happens but at the same time, what about people that like to think before they buy? How many times have you been ran off from a sale by a pushy salesman? Make your site a source of “information” that is “pleasant” to visit and you can do the “hard sell” on a second site that that they can click to from there.
