Chicago White Sox 2006 Betting Preview

The Chicago White Sox excelled in every facet of the game last season and were really a joy to watch. But if it weren’t for the Cleveland Indians sneaking up on them late in the year when it looked like complacency was setting in, the White Sox may never have captured a World Series ring.

If you were a South Side backer last season, you probably enjoyed a nice vacation off of your winnings as the Sox posted an impressive 99-63 regular season record winning their backers 22 huge units.

One interesting thing to note when looking at last year’s team was their apparent struggle with left-handed pitching as opposed to right-handed pitching. Despite a solid right handed batting lineup, led by slugger Paul Konerko, the White Sox were just 23-21 against lefties on the season. Look for the 2006 White Sox to once again destroy righties as they are a positive 43 units over the last 2 seasons against right handed pitching and it should even improve this season with addition of left-handed slugger Jim Thome.

It will be important to feel out the 2006 White Sox before laying on them consistently. Their biggest plus is great starting pitching, and they have a rising star closer in Bobby Jenks as well. Watch to see if the South Siders to continue to struggle with south paws. If they do, going against them versus lefties and with them versus righties could be a great recipe for success in 2006.
