How to Brand a Small Business
Anyone who says you cannot brand a small business have never studied how Franchise Companies start and grow in their communities and then end up taking out the competition for regional domination. Sure you can brand a small business, heck I did and within a 8-year period I took my well-branded small business and turned it into a much larger business in 23-states, 4-countries, 450 cities and 110 major markets, it can be done.
Many marketing consultants and gurus say that marketing brand for small business cannot be done. Others agree that it can be done. I am in the camp with those who know it can be done. In this camp some say that; Branding is about your reputation. Indeed that is true, but to single out that one concept and say that is branding is way too simplistic. You see branding is much more than that; not just reputation, but what comes to mind when you see the brand, it is about customer feelings inside of them.
Many franchise companies say that the brand is about quality of products, cleanliness, customer service and strength in the customer’s mind of consistency. If your brand is re-assuring to your customer, then they will partake and spend that unit of trade called a dollar for what it is you offer over a competitor for none-other reason than your brand. And therefore it is possible to brand a small business in such a way that you can dominate your market sector in your city or town or space on the Internet. Consider all this in 2006.
